What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a form of manual therapy that takes a whole body approach to assessment and treatment. Osteopathy works with the philosophy that structure and function are interrelated. By addressing the muscular and/or joint restrictions will help to optimise the neural, circulatory and lymphatics pathways allowing the body's self healing mechanism to work more efficiently.
Osteopathy has a variety of techniques including soft tissue massage, fascial stretching, dry needling, taping, joint mobility and manipulation, stretching and many more.
Treatment is tailored to each individual and will often include some home based exercises to further support their condition.
Osteopathy can treat a wide range of conditions including but not limited to:
- low back pain, disc injury, sciatic pain
- headaches, neck pain, whiplash
- scoliosis
- sporting injuries (ie. muscle strains/tears, ligament injury)
- pregnancy related pain and discomfort
- degenerative conditions (ie. osteoarthritis etc)
- hip, knee, ankle and foot conditions
- shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand conditions
