No referral is required to see an Osteopath.

~ Is Osteopathy covered by Medicare?
If you suffer from a chronic/long term condition then you may be eligible for an EPC or CDM plan from your GP. This allows for 5 Allied health treatments per calendar year where Medicare will rebate part of your consult fee. Please note, that you will required to pay the remaining fee of your Osteopathic consult.

~ What is involved in an Osteopathic Consult?
Your Osteopathic consult will begin with a thorough case history about your presenting complaint as well as information regarding previous injuries and medical history to gain an overall understanding of your health and wellbeing.
An assessment will then be done noting posture, range of movement, tissue texture and may include special tests such as orthopaedic or neurological testing in order to come to a diagnosis.
Your working diagnosis, management and treatment plan will be discussed before gaining informed consent and proceeding with treatment.
Treatment is tailored to each individual and may vary each visit depending on the information gathered from your assessment. You may also be given some home based stretching or strengthening exercises to further support your condition.

~ What to wear? What to bring?
It is recommended to wear light, loose fitting clothing that is easy to move around in. Please note, that you may be asked to remove/move some items of clothing in order to fully assess and treat the area of concern. A gown can be provided for your comfort if you would prefer.
Please bring along any relevant scans (X-ray, CT, MRI, DEXA etc) or any other test results relating to your condition.
If you are under CDM/EPC or DVA please bring along the relevant paperwork from your GP.

~ Is Osteopathy covered under Private Health Insurance?
Yes. Osteopathy is covered under extras in Private Health Insurance. The rebate will vary depending on your insurer and your level of cover. Align Health Osteopathy has a HICAPS machine so you will be able to claim on the day.
